My journey with the water started when I was 4 years old. I took swim lessons at age 4 and learned to love the water (I cried through my first lessons as a child too!) At age 6, I started swimming competitively. After swimming competitively for around 12 years, I decided to coach swim team and teach swim lessons. I taught lessons with organizations such as the Red Cross Swim Lessons in Mesquite, Aqua Kids in Keller, TX and many private lessons throughout the years. All in all I have been coaching and teaching swim lessons for 15+ years!
Before deciding to pursue ISR full time, I spent 5 years in public education as a Music and Choir teacher. I graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a Music Education Degree and have always had a passion for the music and singing alongside my love for the water. I am a certified k-12 music teacher and have taught at all k-12 levels. I have experience in working with a diverse group of students including those with various disabilities and needs. Swimming is a love of my life and I enjoy sharing that while teaching skills that save lives!
After deciding to make swim lessons my main career, I looked into becoming ISR certified. When observing my first few lessons, I was absolutely amazed with what I saw and couldn’t be more excited to join the ISR team. I completed my 6 week ISR Instructor Training in May of 2023. After going through a full 6 week session with my master instructor, Kathy Cole of ISR Fort Myers in Florida, I was blown away by the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of ISR. I could not be more thrilled to be teaching children these life saving skills.
